Corlay Cattle Company was formed in 1986 in the small community of Dodge, TX located about 10 miles east of Huntsville. Originally raising crossbred cattle, the company became interested in Brangus cattle about 8 years ago. Brangus cattle offer the hybrid vigor of the brahman breed with the carcasses qualities of the angus breed…a perfect combination for our East Texas climate and pastures. Pursuing our interest, Corlay Cattle Company has purchased some of the best donor cows available and practices a very controlled master plan of breeding using the best bulls available in the breed. We presently having a herd of a 100 F-1 recipient cows and strive to produce approximately 80-100 embryo calves per year. In 2007, Corlay Cattle Company began an embryo program using Hoodoo bred Charolais donor cows and now produces show club calves.

Corlay Cattle Company is family-owned by Dr. J.T. (Jody) Crawford Jr. his wife, Patty, and their two sons. The ranch derives its name from a combination of their two sons, Cory and Clay. Dr. Crawford is a practicing dentist in Huntsville, while Patty is the office manager. Cory is the General Manager of Oldcastle Concrete in Brookshire, while Clay is a corporate salesman for BJ Chemical Services in Houston.

Wes is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a Bachelor Degree in Animal Science (2001) and a Masters in Beef Cattle Production (2002). Wes is presently an animal nutrition consultant with Cargill Feeds. Wes’ advanced knowledge comes from his past experiences as Coach of the Texas A&M Livestock Judging Team, Assistant Manager of C4 Ranch in show steer production, Bull Cooperator Manager for Camp Cooley Ranch, as well as his personal involvement in 4-H and FFA activities.

Wes provides expert consulting on all breeding activities for both the Brangus cattle and the Hoodoo show steer donor cows. Wes implemented and oversees special feed programs for our donor cows as well as our embryo calves. He also heads up our marketing program and interactions with other breeders.

Kenny Box — Ranch Manager

Kenny is a 2008 graduate from Sam Houston State University with a degree in Agriculture Business. Kenny was born and raised in Franklin, Texas. With his father owning a feed store, Kenny grew up around farm animals, feed, and hard work. Kenny is skilled in all aspects of ranch management from the feeding, embryo program, breeding, marketing, as well as the daily repairs and maintenance items.

Dr. Schneider and his assistant Kim do all of our embryo flush and transfer work. They are true professionals and masters of their trade. Dr. Schneider consults on our donor and recipient cow herd in regards to health and management. Dr. Schneider is also assisted by Mr. Jeff Jones, who performs all of our insemination and AI works. They make a great team and have done a wonderful job for us.

J.T. Crawford Jr. D.D.S. — Hired Hand
